IHC EARNING BUSINESS THROUGH DESIGN

IHC BLENDS TRADITION & TECHNOLOGY IN
THEIR CEDAR HOME CONSTRUCTION

WOODINVILLE, WA -- International Homes of Cedar, Inc. (IHC) manufactures
fine quality precut homes on a custom basis. The company's structural
system is a unique blend of traditional and modern techniques and materials.
IHC follows the oldest tradition of construction, the massive strength
of solid horizontal log structures, but it uses kiln-dried laminated cedar
or pine timbers with patented precision-machined interlocking joints.
In their laminated timbers, the orientation of wood fibers creates a piece
70% stronger than solid sawn lumber of the same dimension. The moisture
content is lower than kiln-dried framing lumber and the timber is therefore
more stable.
To perfect this high grade engineered product, lumber is kiln-dried in
board form until the moisture content is both ideal and uniform. Then,
with exacting precision, each segment is bonded together under intense
heat and pressure to form a timber of unsurpassable strength and dimensional
stability. Unlike traditional logs, IHC's walls resist twisting, warping,
shrinking and cracking.
All the best properties of cedar are preserved in the IHC timbers. Cedar
defends against mildew or decay in moist climates, is especially repellent
to insects and becomes a remarkable insulator in extreme hot or cold climates.
As a result, IHC homes offer superior longevity and lower maintenance
than conventional construction methods. For more information regarding
the products and manufacturing process of IHC, call 1-800-767-7674 or
360-668-8511.
